香港旅之三: Our Journey To Hong Kong Day 3

Day 3, our destination will be Ngong Ping 360 and the famous landmark in Lantau Island. Woke up this morning and the weather was quite nice. GOOD!

We headed to one of the famous HK noddles shop, 佳佳粉麵店( 港式車仔麵) and had our breakfast. The noodles shop located at Tai Kok Tsui, Mongkok Area. It was recommended by my colleague. Overall the noddles were nice, tasty.

After the breakfast, we took a train from Mongkok MTR Station to Lai King to change Tung Chung Line, and then we stopped at Tung Chung MTR Station. Reached Tung Chung station, find exit B and you’ll see the huge Citigate Outlet front of you, walked past the mall and there is the entrance for the cable car terminal.

We purchased the Single Trip for Standard Cabin Car which costs HKD80 for adults and HKD41. Each cable car can fit up to 17 pax (10 sitting and 7 standing) but 7 of us occupied the whole cabin car. This is the longest cable car ride about 5.7km. My In Law afraid of heights and felt scary during the whole journey. From the cabin car, we had the opportunity to view the scene of lantau Island, Giant Buddha from far, and also Hong Kong International Airport. It was awesome!

Reached Ngong Ping Village, heavy rain again! Damn bad luck! So we decided to have dessert at the Honeymoon Dessert House to escape from the rain. Ngong Ping Village provides its tourists with a diverse array of western and eastern food. We didn’t really have much chance to explore Ngong Ping Village due to raining. We walked to the Giant Buddha under the rain. To reach the Buddha statue, you have to climb 268 steps up the long flights of stairs. Benny and parents did climb up those stairs except me. :P Because I need to take care Chloe .. Her Milk time!

Our next stop will be Tai-O Fishing Village, which is just across a river from Lantau Island. We took bus No 21 from Ngong Ping Village to Tai-O Village. Upon arriving at Tai-O, we take a short walk to the docks where boats depart regularly to go dolphin spotting (famous Chinese white dolphins). It costs HKD20 per person. After the ride, we walked to the village, numerous shops sell dried fish, fish products, and some tourists souvenirs. We had lunch at one of seafood restaurants here.

We took a bus ride back to Tung Chung station, Citigate about 5pm. This is what a girl’s gotta do – SHOPPING! Spend 2 hours inside the mall, various outlets holding much designer fashion, shoes-wear, children wear and others.  Bought a Coach wallet for my mother, and shirt from Ralph Lauren for Hubby while I went home empty handed.

Took MTR from Tung Chung to Mongkok. Backed to the hotel, Hubby and Chloe were too tired and took a nap. So I took the opportunity to shop at the nearest H&M outlet J , bought a nice pair of earrings from Agatha outlet. We ended the night having a late dinner and again, shopped at Mongkok Ladies Street night market.

香港旅之一: Our Journey To Hong Kong Day 1

27th June 2011- Chloe was burning up some fever > 37.2deg, we were panic and we may have to cancel the trip if Chloe is not getting better.  Next early morning (3a.m.), I gave her fever reducer and hope so she would not be having fever.

On 28th June 2011, Hubby, Chloe and parents flew off to Hong Kong! Our flight was at 7.10 in the morning so we had to be at the airport at 510am. Felt relieved, Chloe temperature was at 36.8deg, she is getting excited and happy in the airport. She kept telling me- Chloe want aero plane!!   We were having breakfast at McD, LCCT. Soon after, we had to board the plane.

We arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport about 11am. After clearing the customs and immigrations, first off purchased the Airport Express ticket, from HKIA to Kowloon Station, adult fare is HKD$90, and also Octopus Card for 7 of us. Octopus Card is an electronic money card which you can pick up for 100HKD and charge up as needed. We use the card to get around on the subway during our stay in HK.

It only 20 minutes travel time from HKIA to Kowloon station. Kowloon station is situated in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. Took cab from station to hotel, we had booked a standard room in “Hotel Stanford” in Mongkok Area. Hotel Stanford is strategically located near the Mongkok MTR station which is also very near to the Ladies market (女人街), tourist attraction. Checked in to Hotel about 1245pm, and the room was pretty comfortable.  After settling down at the hotel,. So we headed for our lunch at Kam Wah Café @ Prince Edward. It started raining on our way to the café.

We will be visiting The Peak (http://www.thepeak.com.hk/) this evening. We purchased the combo tickets for the tram up to the peak and Madame Tussauds (伦敦杜沙夫人腊像馆), didn’t go for Sky Terrance because it was raining. We queue up for the ride J AS the tram move slowly and steeply up to the top, we able to view the beautiful city skyline of Hong Kong. Felt dizzy when I was in the tram. L

We visited the Madame Tussauds which exhibits over 100 local and international celebrity wax figures. You can meet your SUPERSTARs there!!! We have chance to take photos with our favourite idols. Hubby was busy snapping pictures while I were busy chasing Chloe in the center. Chloe also took photos with few celebrities Jwe also managed to buy the HK Disneyland ticket here (HKD350/adult). Didn’t stay long at the peak as it was kinda crowded and cold after the rain, so we went for dinner instead…

We didn’t want to take the tram back down so we decided to take shuttle bus (No 15) from The Peak back to Central MTR Station. The road is curvy, lots of bends. We headed back to Mongkok area for dinner @ Fuk Kee Congee. Food served wasn’t very cheap as well. After dinner, we walked back to hotel which is only about 10 minutes walk. The night scene of HK with lots of Huge billboards and the whole city is full of lights and laser shows.

TIRED …. SLEEP ZzzZzzz…
